My practice is multicultural and multilingual with services offered in English, Japanese, and Spanish.

My extensive international experience includes 14 years living in Tokyo, Japan and three years in Lima, Peru. My diverse background enables me to be open-minded, eclectic, and creative in my approach to treatment, and to distinguish personal and mental health issues from cultural and societal ones.

My approach is flexible and practical. I work with clients to identify major issues and set treatment goals.

Together, we work to attain goals by developing effective coping skills and cultivating social and environmental supports (e.g., linkage to support groups, strengthening of community and/or family ties).

Clients are given access to reliable psycho-educational tools and materials to prepare them to advocate for themselves and others

Integrating psychotherapy with 12-step and other addiction treatment programs is an area in which I have considerable experience.  I am also trained in EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing) which has been proven to be extremely effective in the treatment of PTSD, panic attacks and other anxiety disorders.
